Many of us drift into our elderhood with the passage of time as our only witness. Ironically, sadly, this is potentially our time of greatest power and impact. Yet we too often don’t feel that way, and those around us are oblivious to our simmering pot of wisdom.

As powerful as this time has the potential to be, it is also a time of our greatest vulnerability. Our health, finances, relationships, families, and work are all changing. And we sometimes don’t have the insight or give ourselves permission to untangle the mess and realign it with our current reality.

That’s why I created Mature. Melanated. Magnificent! To acknowledge these changes, give us tools to sort through them on our own terms, and celebrate who we are emerging to be.

This comes not from the posture of being an instructor or guru who has all the answers. Far from it! Rather, it is me walking the path of uncertainty alongside you, and sharing what we learn along the way.

This journey honors our ancestors who have placed pavers under our feet to steady our gait. It honors our steps into a vibrant elderhood. And it shines our wisdom as a beacon for those future travelers in our families and community.

So from this perch in my 70s, I declare that I am proud to be Mature. Melanated. Magnificent! And so are you!
